I’m not a goalie coach — I’m a strength and conditioning coach and performance nutrition coach who works with hockey players on improving how they prepare, recover, and perform.
This simple Goalie Pre-Ice Warm-Up Routine came together after a few goalies I train asked for something they could do before practices and games to feel sharper and more consistent.
It’s not meant to replace what a goalie coach teaches — it’s just a structured way to get the body moving, the eyes tracking, and the mind ready before stepping on the ice.
If any goalie coaches would like to add to this, adjust it, or tell me I’m off base — I’d honestly appreciate the feedback. I’m simply doing my best to help the goalies who came to me looking for a better way to prepare.
Overview
A consistent pre-ice warm-up helps goalies:
- Activate key muscles and joints
- Improve focus and coordination
- Reduce stiffness or sluggish starts
- Build rhythm and composure before puck drop
This sequence can be done in a hallway, locker-room space, or small dryland area — with or without a partner.
